Office of Academic Affairs
The mission of the Office of Academic Affairs includes comprehensive planning, student registration, curricular affairs, graduate studies, general education, and other academic affairs. Thus, the Office sets up five divisions to carry out planning, student registration, curricular affairs, graduate studies, and academic affairs on the Gongguan campus as well as the Center for General Education and the Center for Teaching and Learning Development. The tasks performed by each of the divisions and centers are as follows:

Division of Planning
I. Planning for various examinations:
 (I) Various examinations of the University
   ◎ Screening of recommended students for undergraduate students
   ◎ Screening and examination for recommended students for Master’s
     programs
   ◎ Screening examination for Doctoral programs
   ◎ Entrance examination for Master's programs
   ◎ Entrance examination for in-service Master’s programs
   ◎ Entrance examination for Doctoral programs
   ◎ Independent admission for the Department of Athletic Performance
   ◎ Screening of recommended four-year and two-year junior college
     students for admission
   ◎ Entrance examination for sophomore transfer students, etc.

 (II) Various authorized examinations
   ◎ General Scholastic Ability Test
   ◎ Joint College Entrance Examination
   ◎ College Admission Practical Examinations
   ◎ Joint University Entrance Examination for Overseas Chinese

II. Recruiting and advocacy affairs
III. Planning and compilation of the total number of openings for admission to the
  University and expansion or adjustment of divisional affairs for individual
  departments, graduate institutes and programs
IV. Various general academic affairs-related tasks

Division of Registrar
I. Admission-related affairs for undergraduate students
II. Academic status-related affairs for undergraduate students, such as admission
  deferral, suspension of studies, reinstatement of studies, dismissal, postponed
  graduation, name change and graduation
III. Transcript-related affairs for undergraduate students
IV. Credit transfer-related affairs for undergraduate students
V. Issuance of bachelor’s degrees, certificates of successful completion and various
  transcript and credit-related certifications

Curriculum Division
I. Teaching and curriculum-related affairs (class scheduling, announcements of
  discontinued and continued courses, change in curricular arrangements,
  management of syllabus system,and management of the course evaluation
  system, etc.)
II. Graduate students course selection (also for those under certificate programs
  and auditing students), inter-university course selection and credit transfer
III. Credits and program-related affairs
IV. Supervising during Chinese and English final exams and exam arrangement,
  announcement and printing of exam questions
V. Allocation, arrangement and scheduling of classrooms, printing of classroom
  availability charts which are posted in individual classrooms
VI. Organization of Curriculum Committee meetings
VII. Editing and compilation of University calendars
VIII. Tallying of hours taught by full-time and part-time instructors and calculation
  of instructors’ hourly wages

Division of Graduate Studies
I. Admission-related affairs for graduate students
II. Academic status-related affairs for graduate students such as suspension of
  studies, reinstatement of studies, dismissal, postponed graduation, name
  change and graduation.
III. Transcript-related affairs for graduate students
IV. Credit transfer-related affairs for graduate students
V. Issuance of degrees, certificates of successful completion and various transcripts
  for graduate students

Division of Academic Affairs for Gongguan Campus
I. Admission-related affairs for new students on Gongguan Campus
II. Course selection, inter-university course selection and credit transfer for
  students on Gongguan Campus
III. Academic status-related affairs for students on Gongguan Campus, such as
  admission deferral, suspension of studies, reinstatement of studies, dismissal,
  postponed graduation, name change and graduation
IV. Transcript-related affairs for students on Gongguan Campus
V. Issuance of bachelor’s degrees, certificates of successful completion, and
  various transcript and credit-related certifications for students on Gongguan
  Campus

Center for General Education
I. Planning of core courses, review of courses, change to courses and course
  syllabus management-related affairs for general education
II. General education workshops and guest speaker grants
III. Organization of various general education activities and participation in off-
  campus general education seminars
IV. Affairs relating the Curriculum Committee for the Center for General Education
V. University-wide maintenance and management of course trees
VI. Selection of excellent general education teachers and screening of files of
  outstanding students
VII. Organization of course improvement programs sponsored by the Ministry of
  Education or the University

Center for Teaching and Learning Development
I. Promotion of teacher’s professional development

  1. Promotion of the relay system for new teachers, the pioneer teacher’s system and teaching assistant’s system
  2. Organization of professional workshops to help teachers grow
  3. Promotion of courses taught through the Moodle digital learning platform
  4. Incentives for teachers to prepare teaching materials and teaching aids
  5. Grants for teaching advancement, innovation and project community programs
  6. Implementation of plans relating the Second Northern Taiwan Teaching Resource Center of the University

(VII) Survey and study on teacher’s professional development
II. Assistance in the learning, growth and improvement of students

  1. Organization of various activities that help boost students’ learning efficacy
  2. Promotion of learning and counseling mechanisms and individual learning consultations for students
  3. Establishment of students’ self-study mechanism
  4. Survey and study on students’ learning efficacy
